The brief was to transform this blank canvas into a beautiful space in a contemporary style. The (partial) circular turf broke up the rectangular shape of the garden – introducing areas for lush planting around the patio. The far corner created a secondary smaller seating area to catch the evening sun. Stainless steel wire trellis was trained at this corner, planted with scented climbers; roses, jasmine, honeysuckle forming a backdrop to the garden. The fence line was planted with Ceanothus in the sunny areas and Skimmia japonica in the shadier area to further break up the fence line. This is the garden in its first year.
