Project 5: New Town Garden

The garden at Great King St required a solution fast. Tenants were about to move in – there needed to be a ‘garden’ in place for their arrival.

The vegetation (grass primarily) had been killed off due to a combination of factors: lack of light, poor drainage, the addition of a ‘feed & weed’ which killed the grass, which was then unable to regenerate.

The objectives of the brief were simple: create a garden that was low maintenance & to a budget!

The design proposed an extension of the patio area to capture the sun in the evening. A central space of artificial grass added ‘greenery’. Gravel paths are laid to provide a route around the garden.
