INVERLEITH, Edinburgh garden

The clients sought ideas to transform their existing paved area into a space to entertain and enjoy summer evenings. The design proposes two seating areas to capitalise on the sun in the morning and in the afternoon/evening. A circular seating area is dug into the corner of the curve of the lawn, creating a strong sense of enclosure. Grasses, lavender and box encircle this seating area. A cascade water feature is built into the curved wall engendering a light and peaceful atmosphere.
A second more intimate seating space is situated at the west-facing end of the garden capturing the evening sun. The pergola is planted with roses and jasmine to enjoy warm, scented, summer evenings.
